Type 1 surveys
Type 1 surveys are presumptive surveys i.e. because no samples are taken, suspect material is presumed to contain asbestos and the risk is assessed accordingly. This is usually the cheapest form of survey in the short term, because a Type 1 survey may catagorise non-asbestos materials as containing asbestos, you can incur unneccessary costs for managing that material.
Type 1 surveys would normally be performed on a site where no renovation/refurbishment work is due to be carried out for the forseeable future.
