Type 2 surveys ( Management Surveys)
A The most common type of asbestos survey is the sampling Management Surveys formerly the Type 2 survey is a sampling survey i.e. samples of suspect material are taken to the laboratory for assessment. This will provide a definitive answer as to whether you have asbestos containing materials (ACMs) on a site.
Management Surveys (Type 2 surveys) are generally suitable for assessing the risk to occupants of a premises.
In this type of survey the samples are only taken from accessible areas (floor tiles, boilers cladding etc) making Type 2 asbestos surveys unsuitable for premesis that will undergo major renovation or refurbishment.
Thames Laboratories employs highly trained, experienced specialists and is fully Accredited by UKAS to carry out Type 2 (Management Surveys) sampling surveys.
It is important to note that both the Surveyor and Client need to agree the extent of the survey and the level of opening up to be undertaken.
